I don't usually have fruit trees (grapes & berries, yes) but am slowly getting there. I used to get trees from a place in Northport WA but they went under; Miller nurseries (no rel as far as I know) in New York state are good, as are St. Lawrence Nurseries. I've gotten some nice antiques and pink fleshed apples from them. I'll dig up the links.

It is glorious when the sun is out in below zero weather--but the skin can sure freeze fast. It's due to be about -15F to -20 by Wed, you will love that. Well, probably not! I heard from a friend this week a fellow we'd both known was pickup camping, cooking bacon in his camper, with the window open, and a bear pushed the window in and took the bacon---the bear went in and the man went running out! So I got off easy.

Yes, for the birds (and maybe other animals, I don't hunt so I don't know on them). But definitely ducks and geese and I suppose whoever else comes to feed on the grain. I think it was part of a Faustian bargain to get the land set aside, to allow hunting there. The refuge center will be able to tell you when the seasons are, and I think the days alternate then too, so you can be there safely

Thank you Betsy and Happy Easter to you too! You will love the wildlife refuge--just be sure you go on non-hunting days (don't get me started on wildlife refuges that allow hunting. . .)
Another nice ride is just along the West side--as a kid we used to go from downtown out on the dike to the west side road, then south to Moravia and back to town. Probably too much traffic to do that loop

That is such a cool photo! Well, happy white Easter to you! Snowing again, oh boy. But my tomatoes are about 5 inches tall! I am so proud. Andy's hot peppers just poked their little head out this morning. We went to CdA and bought bikes (found on Craigs List) yesterday hoping to do the Kootenai wildlife refuge trails up there....but I guess it will still be a while. Have a great day! -Bets xoxo
